Every summer West Michigan Glass Art Center offers a very popular Summer Glass Camp for teens.
Our Glass Explorers
camp if designed for glass artists ages 10-18. This glass summer camp explores the beginning techniques used to create glass art. Campers will make a glass paperweight in the Hot Shop and create glass art using kiln fusing, lampworking (flameworking), glass bead making, sand casting, stained glass and sand blasting.
Teen Glassblowing
is another very popular choice for glass artists age 12-18 (no experience necessary). This summer camp focuses more on glassblowing, where campers will create a hollow blown glass vessel. In addition teens will flamework items with a torch, create beads on a mandrel, try sand blasting and finish a three-dimensional kiln fused project.
Teen Inferno is a camp reserved for returning glass artists ages 12-18. This camp will focus on advanced techniques used to create glass art. Campers will make blown glass projects in the Hot Shop-create glass art using kiln fusing, lampworking (flameworking), bead making, kiln casting, grinding, polishing and finishing.
Plan ahead for 2013 summer camp and programs for your teenager!
In addition to camp,
teens can sign up for a variety of glass art classes and programs on this website listed under "Programs" and then "Catalog Classes." We also have a glass art catalog available at here at the Glass Art Center. Teens can learn the exciting art of glassblowing in single evening classes ("An Evening with Hot Glass" is a great starter class), multiple week classes and one day workshops.
