Stained Glass



   Minimize
Centuries-old technique of assembling separate pieces of colored glass to form a glass panel or window. Common techniques use lead channel (came) to assemble the pieces, or soldering pieces together that have been wrapped with a copper foil tape. Classes include all glass, supplies and tools.

Beginning Stained Glass: Introduction to Pattern Making

Prerequisite: Completion of Beginning Stained Glass: “Tiffany” Copper Foil Method or
equivalent.  Maximum: 6 students

    Are you ready to transition from pattern books to designs of your own creation? In this workshop the instructor will guide you through all of the considerations involved in making your own patterns for original stained glass works of art.  Students must bring a
photographic image they would like to translate into a stained glass piece.  Fun things to do in Kalamazoo!

Prerequisite:  No experience necessary.
Maximum:  6 students
$28 members/$35 non-members

 Students will be Introduced to basic stained glass skills while producing a butterfly ornament through the use of the Tiffany style copper foil method.  A pattern will be provided in this class.  Great class for adults and teens.  Spend your summer with your family learning new skills, right here in Kalamazoo!

 

Intermediate and Advanced Stained Glass Directed Study

Instructor: Lee E. Klade
Hours arranged with instructor  (SG1225)
Prerequisite:  Completion of applicable Beginning and Intermediate
level course work or equivalent.  
Maximum: 8 students
Consultation fee will be dependent on the complexity of the project.

   Here is an opportunity for an experienced student without a studio to work on a project of their own design.  Projects can include copper foil and/or lead came, hot and cold three-dimensional work, and glass staining.  Students working on individualized projects must supply their own materials and discuss the desired outcome of the project with the instructor prior to commencing work.
