Explore Glass Art Day (EGAD!), November 17th, 10:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Have you ever wanted to try glass art but were not sure which class you would like to try?  If you answered "YES,"  then Explore Glass Art Day is for you!  Here's how it works: Each participant can choose from the following 5 different types of glass mediums offered every hour:  Paperweights, Kiln Fusing, Flameworking, Beadmaking, and Sandblasting (more info is here.)   Classes are one hour in length, so every hour a new project will start.  For example, a new Kiln Fusing class will start at 10:00 a.m., another at 11:00 a.m. and another at 12:00 p.m, etc.    After deciding which classes you would like to take, please call us to register and book your time slots.  Walk-in's are also welcome and we will work you into classes as we have space available.  Explore Glass Art Day is perfect for both adults and youth and is an affordable way to explore mini-classes before signing up for full classes. No experience necessary.  Bring your family and friends for a day of glass art fun right here in downtown Kalamazoo, MI.

ARTBreak at the Kalamazoo Institute of Art, October 23, noon-1:00 p.m.
A presentation by Tracy Bell of her recycled jewelry and other funky stuff.  Come see how one artist looks at other peoples junk and turns it into unusual jewelry.  Tracy often uses items picked up off the beach and the street. All her wire comes from the roads of Battle Creek where her husband is involved in road construction.  She also recycles glass wine and beer bottles to mix with her handmade lampwork beads used in bracelets, necklaces and earrings.  This event is free and you don’t have to be a member of the KIA to attend.  Brown bag lunches welcome, cookies and coffee provided.
